Rush has started his show today whacking McCain and Huck upside the sides of their heads for not being conservative.
He switch to the uniformity of the Democrats and he then quoted one of the long quotes of Thompson calling for Democrats to vote for him--one from the 17 minute Iowa message. Rush asked who said the quote and then went to break. When he came back from the break, his staff had guessed Liberman or Reagan. It was, of course, Fred. This is the closest that Rush has come to calling Fred Reaganesque.
He also talked about the Politico hit piece.
Boy, I wish he would come out more strongly.
UPDATE: In hour 3, a caller defended Romney against another caller saying that he is conservative (you had to moderate your positions a bit to run in the east--I don't agree with that, but that was the argument) and has shown that he can stand up to Democrats. The caller felt that Rudy's experience showed that he would too. Rush finally called these two (gently) to the carpet saying that this was the issue that was his biggest concern with Rudy and Mitt. They compromised with Democrats rather than stood up to them. He talked about Reagan getting his conservative agenda passed even though he faced a Democratic majority in congress. Why? He had a mandate and went over their heads. His mandate had to do with the fact that he was a "movement conservative" which Rudy and Mitt are not.
Rush did not finish the sentence--Fred is. But if you take the overall message of the show (McCain and Huck are liberal; Mitt and Rudy and not movement conservative), who is left?
